2023

Catherine Lirette has been a dedicated advocate of the sport of gymnastics for more than forty years as a competitor, coach, official/judge, and administrator.

As a competitor, she was a member of several NB teams competing at Atlantic Championships and in 1985 was an alternate at the Canada Winter Games.  When injury curtailed her competitive career, she turned to coaching.   A Level 3 NCCP Competitive Coach, she led several clubs at various Atlantic centres, including the Chatham Pirouettes and the Miramichi Gymnastics Club.  She currently sits on the NB Gymnastic Association Wag Technical committee.

She began her outstanding Judging career in 1989 at the provincial level.  In 1994, she wrote the National Judging exam and proceeded to judge at many Regional and National events including Atlantic, Eastern Canadian and Canadian Championships and four Canada Winter Games.

Catherine has been the NB Judging Chairperson for 20 years and sits on the National Judging Women’s Assembly of Gymnastics Canada.  In 2009, she was selected as one of five National Judges to enter the Brevet Judging System: the internationally recognized standard for World Level judges.  She remains the only World Artistic Gymnastic Brevet Judge ever in NB.  Her Profile 2 status places her in the top six judges in Canada, allowing her to be assigned to top competitions worldwide.

Catherine is the epitome of the dedication, knowledge, and hard work needed to excel in any sporting endeavor, making her a worthy addition to our wall.
