A Krista Thompson’s outstanding field hockey career began in Miramichi, where she led her Dr. Losier and James M. Hill teams to four provincial titles.
Her career really took off at UNB as she became one of the top goaltenders in Canada. Her Red Devils captured four straight AUS championships and two CIAU silver medals. She won tournament all star awards at the CIAU National Championships and was selected a CIAU All-Canadian and UNB’s Female Athlete of the Year in 1995.
Krista was involved with the Canadian National Team program from 1992. She has represented Canada at the 1993 World Cup in Terressa, Spain, the 1995 Pan Am Games in Argentina, and in the 1997 and 2001 World Cup Qualifiers in Zimbabwe and France.
Following her playing career, Krista has become one of the top field hockey coaches in the country and is currently coaching the Canadian National U17 team. She has been an assistant coach of the University of Victoria Vikings since 1997 and has helped them to four National Championships, five silver medals and three bronze medals. In addition, she has won six Canadian Championships as head coach of BC provincial teams.
